Another week already past - mixed in with my regular posting are the following items of interest to Labyrinth Lord & Mutant Future games:

  • Mitral Spheres - Stolen in style from the orb above the head of the techno pope (leader of the Church of Industrial Saints in the Jodoverse), these orbs are somewhat akin to ioun stones on steroids.
  • Random Harlots! - just the one encounter scanned from the old 1e DMG because of my current obsession with random tables.
  • Oily Rocks - real world inspiration for a Mutant Future city on the edge.
  • Atarin's Delve - a one-level dungeon suited for level four characters.

Big week at A Character For Every Game!

  • Dyson's Dodecahedron Issue 1 - My first 12-page old-school zine aimed at B/X D&D and Labyrinth Lord.
  • Uniquely Undead - Abilities to replace (or to add to!) the level draining powers of wights, wraiths, spectres and vampires. With an open call for more ideas, please!
  • The Goblin Empire Has Arrived - Write up for my character and empire in the Hill Cantons dominion-level Labyrinth Lord campaign.
  • Random Banners & Standards - Why let the Roman Legions have a monopoly on military standards? My cleric carries one into battle, why don't you?
  • Peridane's Tomb - A crypt/tomb map that can be used for any exploration of dead families - those of your enemies, friends or even your own.

Another week, and a tragedy for me - my hard drive AND backup drive both got blown out somehow last night during a routine backup. So Dodecahedron 2 will be delayed a bit.

But this week we did get some cool old-school stuff out... and a LOT of mapping goodness (3 maps in one week? Madness!)

Work is killing me this week, but another week of updates occurred anyways - not all are old-school relevant of course, but here's the ones that were:

I also made some new geomorphs for Dave's Awesome Geomorphic Mapping Machine.

And another Friday is upon us. This week in old-school posting over on my blog we have:

The majority of this week was spent exploring the possibility of using the Crafts from Gazetteer 3 - The Principalities of Glantri as a sweet and simple old-school way of handling "Prestige Classes"

This week was spent more in reflection than in my usual house rules, maps and monsters.

It's my birthday!

Well, it's my blog's birthday at least.

In addition to this week's post of two characters from the new edition of D&D Gamma World, and talking about how it's my blog birthday here (along with a random table of things to do to celebrate the blogiversary), and then having a two year retrospective here, I made a few old-school relevant posts:

  • The Granite Mount - a location that shows up pretty much at least once per campaign in my D&D games, it's my game world's equivalent of good old Weathertop.
  • Simple Carnage Upgrades - a pair of optional rules to make combat more dangerous in Star Frontiers. We used one in our last campaign and will be trying the second in our next one (starting soon).
  • Labyrinth Lord Monster Cards - a project to compile LL monsters on to business cards that I started and then lost two months ago, now restarted. This is just the first page - basically a proof-of-concept. More pages will come soon.
  • Stag Centaurs - a new monster for Labyrinth Lord, linked to the Wood Elementals that I posted back October-ish.
  • MAP - The Ancient Temple of Torrel - a three-level map of a ruined dungeon with a split second level.
