Using S&S for Old School Trek

Postby Atomic Ray » Tue Apr 03, 2012 4:30 pm

Pretty much sums it up.

I saw on another thread that another site was hosting a S&S Old School Trek PbP game...I checked it out and did not see much activity, but it did get me thinking.

Do you guys out there get excited by the idea of OSTrek PbP?

I was thinking a pocket universe game with a Star Fleet ship investigating an ancient device of vast size, a great ring over a thousand miles in circumference that appeared suddenly. The device is in a restricted zone within Federation space and as it is of importance to all members of Star Fleet, this crew is one of the most species integrated.

Races available would be...

Human
Andorian
Vulcan
Tellerite
Orion
Denobulan
Caitian
Edoan

The Romulans and Klingons are are war thus are unavailable as characters.

Characters would be mid-ranked enlisted or very junior officers.

Characters choose primary and secondary career paths (can be the same career to represent focus)

Operation
Navigation
Science
Medical
Engineering
Security

Damn. Wish I had the time (and the time zone) to take part, but Texas is six hours behind Zulu time.

However - old school? With Denobulans? I thought they didn't turn up until ST:ENT? I'll let Caitians and Edoans slide as they are ST:TAS, which is ST:TOS in all but name.

If you allow Gorns, then the GM/DM/LL/etc should be known as a Metron.

It is a Play By Post so you could chime in with a comment every couple days!

True about the Denoblulans...but in timeline, ST:ENT is before ST:TOS :)

Truthfully we could include more but that seemed like enough to cover the bases...I was thinking Old School Trek as in the uniforms, style, flavor...tried to include everyone's favorite within reason :)

Plenty of time my friend...you are late for your watch!

Hey, maybe the chief goblinoid would allow us to playtest the "next generation" of S&S rules? 8-)

Not sure...blast him a note and we will see...maybe he could run a PbP game?

I would be up for it.

What race/career path are you looking at?
