You know who gets the worst rap, though? Orcus.

Of course he was playing off the fears of others, like those that created D&D and other fantasy. :)

"Yeah I understand Orcus, but you deserve it."

I'm okay with that since he's one of the heroes. Hell he used to be one of my favorites.

Spiderman was my favorite. Now there's another much maligned creature. Shelob, Lolth, Charlotte. ;)

My mom loves spiders. She purposefully leaves her cellar dusty and full of cobwebs. She even talks to the spiders while she's doing laundry. I guess my dad's not much of a conversationalist.

The one with the red demon-eyes kinda does. But then there's the one with the shining face of hope, looking towards the future of a world he can help make better.

Not all bats are ostracized. Flappity Bat has almost 2,000 followers!

Is the tube nosed bat the shining face of hope?

And is that a tear we see in his eye as he clutches his breast? Yes, little tube-nosed bat, there will be a day when tube-nosed bats and pygmy fruit bats can live together, in harmony. You can make that happen!

I kind of see what you're talking about Thaleia. That Egyptian fruit bat does have a hopeful look in his eye.

This discussion reminds of an idea that just sticks in my head. I've noticed a few people talking on other tabletop RPG sites about talk about Good and Evil or Law and Chaos and replacing it with Light and Dark. I'm not so convinced that replacing Light for Good/Law and Dark for Evil/Chaos is such a good idea but having them as seperate axis might interesting. But I'll leave that to another thread.

Preach on, brother! *

* Although my nickname bat comes from two sources: 1) I freed flying foxes when I was in Sumatra and 2) people there (no kidding) thought I was a vampire.
