Athelstan climbs on Bud, sheathing Chrysomer as he does. He pulls hard on Bud's reins as he turns to face the group. He removes his helm and says "The appearance of these branded men is more than a coincidence. Something big is afoot here. It's time to deal with what is chasing us, and rescue Stephen. Many of you don't know this man, and I'm sure some feel we owe him nothing, but we made an oath to bring him home, and I think if we continue on to Kelvin, the time will be up for Stephen, and we will have failed. I would love to head to civilization and clear up our pressing health needs, but I have decided that I will be turning about and heading for this place that Stephen is being held at. Who is with me? If I have to go alone, so be it. My honor is more important than some disease." He motions toward the direction the attackers retreated to and says, donning his helmet "Who is with me?"

OOC: Athelstan is dead set on turning around. Let's make tracks to this place and free Stephen. Heroics, valor and all that stuff. C'mon, man... who is with Mr Personality?

Tret agrees. Yes, I think Athelstan might be on to something. Let's ride.

Meringered straighten up and shows a serious face (which is somewhat unusual for him), then says to Athelstan: "I am tempted to agree with you, but who is this Stephen exactly? And what makes you think these men could be linked to him?"

"Since Soldath has not yet ripped us all to shreds,..." here Old Anja pauses to look at Soldath again just to make sure, "...Yes, let us head to Xitaqa."

Athelstan answers Meringered's question: "Stephen is a homesteader who hired us, or rather hired our one time larger group to escort some horses to his homestead. When we arrived at the homestead, it was under attack by the goblins and Stephen's horses were stolen, and we took off in pursuit of them. When we returned with the horses, we found that Stephen had left and been captured by the goblins. His family asked us to go find him and safely convey him home, we were searching his whereabouts when we came across those of you newer to our ranks."

"To be honest, I am not sure the full measure of what the branded men want with Stephen or us. But wherever we've come across them, death, destruction and mayhem ensue. They seem to be intent on looting or looking for valuables, or perhaps something more sinister. These things expect us to run from them, and we may have an upper hand right now, as they likely think we are headed toward civilization. Now is a great time to pursue them and rescue Stephen."

Athelstan puffs out his chest and says "That's it then. We're off!" And he'll start heading in the direction of our captive employer.

"I will move with the group of course but supposing more of us turn....hairy...what then? Do we just hope they don't rip the others to shreds?"

Athelstan shrugs and says "I was bitten too. If I turn and come at someone, kill me. I'd expect nothing less. Seeing our friend Soldath here controlling himself gives me hope. With luck, no one else is afflicted, but if so, we'll deal with it."

OOC: Yeah, I'm nervous too. But who knows? Maybe Soldath is it.
