Renardius (Cleric)

"Bunch up, keep in formation. Don't let them split us up!" Renardius calls out.

He stands guard near Soldath with his magical mace+1 Smiter, ready to smash any Gobbos who approach within reach.

Day 8, Nytdain, Thaumont 8th, Dymrak Forest, Night, Combat Round 1

Your warrior instincts kick in, and you take up arms against the enemy!

Igli rushes forward to attack the goblin leaping out of the bushes, but in his anger, or haste, his axe misses the mark.

Tret shoots a goblin through the eye, killing it instantly!

Two goblins from the south charge at Athelstan and Bizenghast, but stumble amidst the undergrowth and neither one hits.

Renardius, making sure not to break formation, leans in to take advantage of the moment, but (d20: 1) trips and falls (1 hp dmg).

Soldath's magic missile cracks through the night like a bullet at point-blank range, killing its mark.

Marion plunges Pigsticker into a goblin, right through the belly of the beast. She should call her spear Goblinsticker!

Another goblin to the south ignores the fallen Renardius and focuses instead on the guy shooting magic missiles. His axe grazes Soldath's leg (1 hp dmg).

Igli's quarry snarls and brings his own axe down on the dwarf (3 hp dmg).

Bizenghast, concentrating, turns to the north, then incants a sleep spell. Three goblins drop their axes and instantly collapse into the bushes.

Jarek's otherwise well-placed arrow whizzes far above their sleeping bodies.

Athelstan slices a goblin in two with his great sword.

Four goblins are dead. Three are passed out in the bushes. One is alive and vastly outnumbered. Please note any spells or missiles you used and deduct them from your character sheets.

"Look out!" cries a man's voice from the gatehouse across the bridge. You feel the ground tremble, and through the darkness your hear more goblin war-cries along with snarling wolves crashing through the brush and racing up the riverbank. "Quick! Before they cut you off," the voice continues, and the gate starts to swing open. There is not a moment to lose!

Soldath - Mage

Soldath will side step and put Athelstan between himself and the goblin taking swipes at him. A little close for comfort... He will draw the dagger that might be magic.

Athelstan - Killing Machine

"Cut us off? I'm going to cut THEM off!...RRRAAARRRRRRR!!" as Athelstan hears the voice, he'll charge like a wildman toward the gate and general direction of the approaching wolves and noise - and if any goblin (alive, asleep, singing, whatever) happens to be in his way, he'll hack em' on the move.... likely this would be the goblin messing with Soldath

OOC: Athelstan won't retreat, but then again he has no idea if the numbers approaching are many or few. If the group stands and fights, he'll happily stay with them, but if they decide to hightail it into the settlement, he'll accompany them - insisting on being the last one in, of course....

Tret, bowman

"First that do-gooder wants us to split up and now he wants us to 'stay in formation'," says Tret as he makes a run for the gate. "I told you we should have just formed our own Theives Guild instead of joining these yahoos, Jarek."

Jarek - thief / wound collector

"You make a good point, Tret," says Jarek as he makes a mad dash towards the gates while trying to staunch the flow of blood from his new injury. "Besides, picking pockets usually involves a lot fewer stab wounds."

Igli, if engaged will continue to attack his goblin. If the goblin in front of him is asleep he will hack its throat open before moving to the rest of the party - "the only good goblin is a dead one" he says in dwarfish. Either way he laughs aloud when the warning is called and starts a dwarven war chant joyously at the top of his lungs. If the party is moving toward the gates he will move reluctantly with them defending the rear with Athelstan. If any goblins show up in the way, he engages continuing his chant.

Marion - Hobbit

Shakes off the blood-lust clouding her diminutive brain, and heeds the man's call. It's best that we stand with our allies she thinks to herself. She will rush toward the gate

Renardius (Cleric)

Renardius pulls himself to his feet. If the nearby goblin is still alive, he'll attack, otherwise he attempts to guide the party towards the gate in a coherent group. He'll 'help' any stragglers (ie attempt to force them to move towards the gate).

The gate is straight ahead, and the noise sounds like its coming from the south, up the riverbank. Charging in the general direction of both might prove challenging.

The goblin in front of Igli is asleep. Well, it was asleep. Now it's just dead.

Igli and Soldath, do you consent to being stragglers in need of help?
