Nahin - Elf

Nahin will unscrew the tube pointed away from himself, if all goes well he will inspect the contents.

In the room with the invisible object Nahin will use a staff/pole to "poke" around the vicinity of the arrow impact. He is trying to determine if the object will move and what it might be made of.

After Nahin examines the contents of the tube, he starts poking at the hidden object. After a couple of solid taps with the pole, much to your surprise, a wooden chest with steel bands suddenly becomes visible. It doesn't have a lock, just a simple latch. The chest is a medium sized chest, and looks to be of plain but solid construction.

Further examination turns up nothing else in the room. It seems just the gloves and chest were it.

Nahin - Elf

Hmm... if he took the time to make the chest invisible it may also contain a trap.

Rory inspects the chest to see if it's trapped. If so, he'll try to disarm the trap.

Rory kneels to examine the chest. No lock mechanism is visible, and it appears normal and nondescript otherwise. Just as he's about to touch it, his keen eyes notice something odd about the chest.... it appears to have something that has dried on it. A liquid of some sort. Your first instinct is that it is poison, but you aren't 100% sure. One thing you are sure of, it is all over the chest, including the latch mechanism.

Rory furrows his brow at the sight of the liquid. First he gives it a sniff. If he detects no odor, then he'll pour some water over the chest, attempting to wash the substance away.

You wet the chest pretty well, and you wait for the liquid to dry. 10, 15, finally 30 minutes pass, and when the chest is mostly dry, it's difficult, if not impossible to tell if you washed the substance off the chest. As you ponder what to do, Dak suddenly comes forward with the gauntlets in his hand and says "Here, you don't wan to touch chest? Take deez." And he hands Rory the gauntlets you found in the room.

Without using your hands, just your thieves tools, you check the chest pretty thoroughly, and find no sign of any traps.

What would you like to do?

Nahin - Elf

I would have never thought, I figured the gloves held a magic of some kind. Could it be my uncle left a tool to open the chest?

Rory dons the gloves. "Let's open it," he says.

Rory opens the box.

Rassalar's Treasure

Rory dons the gloves, looks back at the group and then opens the chest. The latch is well-oiled and the chest opens smoothly and silently.
As you open it, it's almost like in the movies... a glow eminates from the chest, and everyone is silent, Dak's jaw going a bit slack (or more slack than normal...)

Inside the chest you see:
A shortsword with a silver-wire wrapped handle, a pommel made from a faceted onyx polished to a mirror-like finish, with runes on the lower 1/2 of the blade depicting trees and forest vistas. The sword glows a soft, bluish glow that is barely noticible. All of the elves in your group recognize this as an elven crafted blade.

three fine arrows (okay, they are +3. Not much to say about those...)

Five darts that look like pure masterwork. Literally - these are quite possibly the finest darts you've ever seen, and just from looking at them, you can tell they are magical. They are in a velvet wrap that rolls up and can be placed in a pouch, large pocket or similar.

A potion, labeled "+ healing"

A dagger, very plain but sturdy. While it doesn't glow, when you pick it up, it feels very slightly warm and comforting in your hand. It also has a silver sheath with several amethysts set in it. The gems are basically chips and not of much value, but the sheath is very nice looking.

a ring made of silver and gold entertwined bands, finely made, yet curiously non-descript. It too is obviously magical.

500PP, 850GP, and 5 gems, Rory estimates there worth to be as follows: 3,000gp, 1,000gp (two of these), 500gp and 300 gp

That's it. A careful search of the chest for false bottoms, etc turns up nothing.

You grab the loot and head upstairs, and as you exit the well building, you hear the crackling of fire - and you see that Grinkle has started a small to medium sized fire and has been dutifully burning garbage and other junk. He smiles at you all as you come up and he says "Find anything neat?" He strolls over to Nahin and says "I found this in Julla's room." And he drops a well-worn leather case with a flap in Nahin's hand. Nahin instantly recognizes this as his uncle's study spectacles. You haven't seen these in years, but your uncle never went anywhere without them. Grinkle smiles and says, "they were in a cloak that Julla had used as a tablecloth. I almost burned em. Don't worry, nothing else in there."

There are a total of 20 bodies in the courtyard. THe ape and his handler are the only bodies missing, and they are at the bottom of the 20' pit. Grinkle has brought the cart around, and from his motions, you can tell he intends to cart the bodies out in this thing. You also note that he has taken down the Lostafinga banner and rolled it up, it is sitting on top of your gear in the gatehouse.

Where to now? What do you plan to do prior to and for your departure?
