The creature raises her head, and regards the party.

She smiles and says, Welcome to White Plume Mountain. You may pass if and only if you can answer my riddle.

Round she is, yet flat as a board
Altar of the Lupine Lords
Jewel on black velvet, pearl in the sea
Unchanged but e'erchanging, eternally.

She waits for your response.

Actions?

Dieter - Mage

Hmmm... he says stroking his chin. Would it be the moon... luna?

She looks at the wizard in surprise. She smiles and says, Yes, please proceed.

She goes back to regarding her nails, no longer interested in you.

Beyond her lie three hallways, one continuing north, one northeast and one northwest.

Actions?

"Well, I'd say one's just as good as another. Northeast if I have a say."

Dandy will keep a sharp Dwarven eye out for anything out-of-ordinary with the tunnel walls and floors.

"Well done, Dieter," Castinus says, complimenting the mage, hoping that Grimes doesn't take it upon himself to present his own moon.

Einar, Thief

The young man stands dumbfounded with the ease in which Dieter mastered the riddle. "It is times like this I realize why I never got into wizardry".

Einar then moves to each of the halls; looking, listening, and smelling. If nothing strikes him as amiss he'll shrug and say, "Northeast is just as interesting as the others".

Grimes - Fighter

Grimes' jaw drops at Dieter's quick and nonchalant answer. He stares at him for a second, and says "Whew! That was amazing! Nice work." Grimes nods at the lioness thing and says "Excuse me, do you know how I can find someone named Keraptis? (or however it's spelled) I've got to axe, uh, that is to say, I need to ASK him some things... heh.. heh... yeah, ask..."

If she doesn't answer him, he'll shrug, produce a timely burst of ogre-sized flatulence, and chuckle, winking at Castinus, and he'll check his sword belt, and then prepare to move on....

The lion-lady gives Grimes no heed. It's as if her job is done and doesn't care about y'all anymore.

You head up the northeast corridor, slogging through the foot-deep water. The green scum collecting on your boots and cloaks as you go.

To be continued...

(I'm up north for the weekend. Will post on Monday.)

Dieter - Mage

Heh, I've always enjoyed riddles. Let's be off.
As the head down the northeast corridor he'll keep a particular eye out for "slime" monsters. Not sure about this indoor swamp...

Shae - Fighter/Mage
"Well done Dieter!" Shae says, the admiration evident in her voice.
