As the room is alit with the glow of 2 blazing torches, Leon stalks forward and inspects the statue upon the black slate floor, and the bronze plaques on the left and right on the north wall.

The stone statue is of an old man in robes. It could be the flickering light at play, but the closer Leon gets to the statue the older the man appears. Suddenly he is face to face with it and the man's face is sunken in and it's eye sockets are empty.

The bronze plaques are studied without stepping upon the black slate floor section. The plaque on the left (A) reads in well worn common etching, "Read this & weep.." the right hand plaque (B) says, "Here lies F'Chelrak....the gates of death are not locked for him."

Suddenly from the ceiling two large 3' x 8' blobs plop down. They are a dull sooty grey. Rolls for surprise 3, 2 - neither party is suprised.
They land near the party and thick snakelike appendages begin forming from the ooze and lashing out at victims ankles and legs.

I will roll round 1 initiative next, what are your round 1 actions?

Let the red dawn surmise
What we shall do,
When this blue starlight dies
And all is through.

Immediately recognizing the danger, Zavenorrin shouts: "Fall back! Fall back everybody!" He then brings out his lance to keep the slithering creatures at bay, while he concentrates on a Sleep spell.

Immalor, Elf

Immalor fires his short bow at the nearest blob and covers the possible retreat!

Balfa

"Curse my bones!"

The dwarf whips out his weapon and readies himself to jump on the creatures but Zavenorrin warning holds him back. He steadies his ground readied to strike should they advance while waiting for the Elf's action.

occ: darn it, I had so many forums to check since my absence I missed the fact battle had commenced in this one

Leon draws both his blades and defends himself should any part of the ooze get too close to him, but he does not move to attack the ooze.

Turin, cleric

I wonder if this torch will affect it. He will try to burn any ooze that gets too close.

Initiative rolls round 1,
party 6, monsters 4 the party wins round 1 Initiative and will be 1st to act, lashing out with weapons & torches ablaze in the crypt cellar beneath the Krake marsh vs the dull gray formations that plopped down from the ceiling.

OOC: Re-reading back through people's stated character actions I am a bit hazy now. Since you won round 1 initiative > what would Balfa and Leon like to do this round? ;)

Well, I was thinking of holding action, but I'll step forward and attack instead.

Balfa will remain where he is and lash at one of the blobs if it gets near him.
