I'm pretty sure this isn't a reboot but continuing the series with a new actor playing Max. Fury Road has been "in development" since the late 80s, so it doesn't surprise me if this is just continuing the story...

I can imagine a story that takes place in one of the gaps between the existing 3 movies, but it's hard for me to imagine Max after Beyond Thunderdome. Figured he would have drifted off back into the wasteland and vanished, remembered only as a legend or tall tale like in an old Western film.
Over the course of the trilogy, Max loses EVERYTHING that gave him an identity - his family, his job, his dog, his car - until he sacrifices his last chance to give the children a chance for some kind of better future.
Kind of hard to end on a better note than that.

Agreed. I'd probably watch it, but will really hope that they don't screw it up too bad.

Well, it's still by George Miller and Tom Hardy is a pretty good actor, from what I've seen him in. I'm hoping for the best.
If nothing else we can rewatch the original trilogy over and over. Of course, I already have done that many times ...

Its hard to stay optimistic with the kinds of crap being pumped out by Hollywood. And more so, the reboots.
Am I the only one who would be totally stoked if AMC or HBO make a reboot to something like Mad Max... or
anything else for that matter!
