Skull Mountain: The Sacrifice

Postby greyarea » Tue Nov 27, 2012 5:01 pm

To stop a sacrifice

You wake rested and ready for the new day. Dieter memorizes his spells and Dandy prays for his in a ritual that now seems familiar to the rest of you.

Clarence, via Gatto, explains that someone should be there soon to collect him for the ceremony and that you should get a move on. A prolonged battle here will make rescuing Greenstone nearly impossible.

Grimes - Fighter

Grimes says to Gatto, "Perhaps you tell Clarence that he shouldn't mention us being here with him. Perhaps you could convince him that bad lizards are going to try and hurt us, and that when he sees us next time, he should come to help us. Might be interesting to see this fella come to our aid. Could confuse the others..."

Before we leave, Grimes asks Einar if he'd be so kind as to take a quick invisible peek outside and see if our lizard-killing rampage has been noticed. We dont' need any ambushes....

Let's rock and roll! Thanks for the healing, Dandy! But please, enough touching yourself with the staff. This is a family pBp....

Clarence, through Gatto, mentions that if his bosses come then there's no way the group can hide. Not in a room this small.

When Dieter suggests you leave, Clarence agrees that this is the best course of action.

You head out to the balcony. No one is in sight. A glance downstairs shows that the bodies not yet been discovered in the area below. Clarence suggests that this may be because the ceremony for the sacrifice is long and could still be going on. You move to the next door counterclockwise, which is a gate.

A locked portcullis blocks this short corridor. A heavy door is set at the opposite end. Between them is Greenstar the Elf!!! Gatto calls out to her but she only looks at him slowly, eyes open widely. She appears to be drugged and is all but unresponsive to the gnome's pleadings.

Einar (d100, 98, FAIL) attempts to pick the lock on the gate but fails horribly. Clarence tells Gatto that one of the priests or acolytes has the key, so it could be in one of the other three unexplored rooms on this level. The door furthest, at 1 o'clock on the map, is the one he points out as the High Priest's chamber. The other two doors are cells of other priests.

Grimes - Fighter

"No worries, we'll be back with the key momentarily..." At seeing the state of the elf, he's seeting with anger, and he's ready to slice and dice some lizards. Let's go to the suggested room.

The High Priest's Quarters

This door is not locked. Einar begins to listen at it when Clarence all but walks over the thief and opens the door. The rest of the party follows.

The sides of this room are covered with hanging tapestries. A richly carved table sits before the door. There are a large number of papers on the table.

One portion of the room is curtained off. A Darkling comes out from behind the curtain, his arms full of used sheets. He stops, looking at Clarence for a moment, then at the rest of you, then at Clarence, then at the rest of you.

It seems like this might be a good time for Actions?

Furuk moves towards the darkling and attacks him with his sword.

Grimes has the same idea as Furuk, and says to the group, "Quickly, before he can loose his magics on us!"

Dieter - Mage

Gatto, please tell our new friend that the priest poses a threat to us, he should help in the melee. If Dieter can lob a dart without endangering anyone he will.
