Alternative Settings

Alright, we know that S&S was designed to emulate Star Trek. However, has anyone given any thought as to using it for other settings?

There are thirdly that spring to mind for me. First off, Raumpatrouille Orion would be a good fit for the rules, given it was a German space opera show that was quite similar to Trek. I'll say no more on this as I believe I've already mentioned that somewhere in this forum before.

Second, I would quite like to use S&S to do something very similar to the original BSG. The big, blank hex map in the back of the rules just cries out to be filled in with features as the PCs explore the unknown. Being pursued by an implacable enemy intent on their destruction would give the PCs a reason to go forward, while the new worlds would provide an interesting source of adventures.

Thirdly, I can't help thinking that a Mirror Universe version of S&S would be interesting to do things with. Mind you, I was tempted to buy the WotC Star Wars game precisely because they published a Dark Side sourcebook.

Any other ideas out there?

The Alien Legion, based on the comics. It should work pretty well with a little work.

I was just pondering last night if I could use it to run Stargate and how it might be accomplished.

Take LL and add S&S and you have Spelljammer.

If you want to do Stargate, you might do worse than look at some of the old Judge's Guild modules. Portals of Terror, Portals of Irontooth and Portals of Torsh do it from a D&D perspective.

If you're using S&S, iy would depend on how closely you want to stay to the original material. It might just be a case of using lower-tech equipment.

I would LOVE to find a SM that would run a classic Battlestar Galactica game using these rules. I'd play in a heartbeat and I am pretty sure I know some other players that would play too.
