Brewing sounds like a family business that cold lead to some to some fun. Perhaps the brew was so bad the brothers needed to start adventuring to support the family. Or maybe the brothers drank all of the profit...

...and we drank away our personal savings, knocked up a couple local girls, accidentally set a tavern on fire, and were kicked out of the house lol!
