Grizzly Snake

No. Enc.: 1d2 (1d3)
Alignment: Neutral
Movement: 90' (40')
Armor Class: 3
Hit Dice: 8
Attacks: 2 (bite, constrict)
Damage: 1d4, poison / 2d8
Save: F3
Morale: 7
Hoard Class: VI

The grizzly snake is a legless combination of snake and bear. It is furry with a bear's head and fangs, although its belly is of hard plate. They prefer arid or mountainous climates. They can grow up to 40' long and are agressive in protecting their lairs. They will attack first with a bite and then constriction. If they score a constriction hit they will continue that constriction until the victim is lifeless, using bites only to fend off other attackers. Its bite is poisonous and a failure against poison will paralyze for 2d4 rounds, giving time then for constriction and eating. The grizzly snake will eat very large creatures (owlbears, titanothere, trolls) and will be digesting a large dinner in a roll of 1-3 on a d12. If digesting they are less agressive but will still defend if attacked. Otherwise, they will attack anything horse-sized or smaller (including all PC races) on sight.

Inspired by the Thundarr the Barbarian episode Challenge of the Wizards

Gotta have a pic! I loved Thundarr as a kid.
To defend: This is the Pact.
But when life loses its value,
and is taken for naught -
then the Pact is to Avenge.

Heh. If it's a Thundarr-related critter, I probably statted it up at some point on my blog.

I was watching this episode last night and was inspired to stat these monsters up.

It's entirely possible that you statted, sniderman, and most likely better than I did. No toe-stepping-on intended.

I so want to play a Thundarr RPG.

Oh, no offense intended! I was just thumbing through and saw "Grizzly Snake" and, well, I've watched Every Thundarr numerous times so the name "popped". I've statted so many Thundarr critters that I honestly began watching the entire series from episode one looking for ANY that I hadn't done yet.

Still lookin'. ;)

I think it'd be cool if you statted out individual wizards and possibly the spells they cast (with spell stats if they are new).
