Grimes - Fighter

Grimes looks about nervously then starts to push on the door. "Hey, gimme a hand!" He says to anyone listening. He'll try to push the door open.

OOC: Dang. This doesn't look too good.

Grimes STR [1d20] = 5

Furuk STR check [1d20] = 3

Even with both Furuk and Grimes pushing, the door will not budge, not even a bit. Even with the combined might of the entire party, it will not move.

Einar INT check [1d20] = 1

Einar notices a keyhole on the inside of the door. Curious, as there wasn't one on the outside.

This is a map of the room. The circles with numbers are the nine globes hanging from the ceiling. They are a little over man-height so touchable by most (except Grimes, shorty) and completely opaque. They reflect light but aren't quite mirrored.

Dieter - Mage

Careful... I smell a trap. My thoughts are that the globes are containers.... maybe shoot one with an arrow or the like?

Einar, Thief

"Wait. Do not shoot any of them, yet".

Einar moves to the closest globe and tries to peer within, "There is a keyhole on this side of the door. Perhaps one of these contains our means of escape. If so, others might contain our doom".

Can a means to move the globes be identified? Do any of them contain markings?

Dandy, Dwarf Cleric

Only a fool would hang orbs wit' nothin' in 'em. Must be somethin' there, an' a key seems likely, if we can pick the right one.

The orbs have no markings on them (I've numbered them in the illustration above for ease of use only).

Castinus draws his sword. "Stand back, he says."

If people stand back, he'll give globe number 6 a gentle poke with his blade.

Castinus discovers that it takes not much to cause the globe to crack and then shatter, spilling its contents on the floor.

A handful of gems hits the floor with the shards of the orb, as does a key.

Grimes - FIghter

Grimes looks at Castinus and chuckles, and nods at the gems. "Gems? Mmm hmm. I hope the rest of these orbs are filled with loot." He'll help to cautiously pick up the gems.
He says at a mumble... "Mmm... let's try that key, shall we?"

Picking up the gems, Grimes notices they are fakes. A few are even chipped and cracked from the fall from the globe.

Trying the key, it does not work.
