Dieter - Mage

Judging by the fallen that are here it's similar to a basilisk, it's gaze will turn you to... nodding to the poor folks around them.

Can you ask her how the Bodak approached her party?

Dieter will use True Seeing to look around but be damn careful not to meet anythings gaze. IE: Look at things waists, etc.

Castinus blinks at the likeness of Shae. Sadness and rage courses through his veins. "A bodak?" he says in response to Grimes' question. "Easy! It's the next thing we're gonna kill, that's what it is."

He can think of no question to ask the dead woman.

OOC: To clarify, Grimes will watch where everyone goes, and he'll position himself so that he's hiding behind something and invisible, and when the thing passes him, and stops to engage someone, he'll stick him in the back.

Grimes disappears using his ring. He hunkers down somewhere.

He is visible to Dieter, who uses his bionic eye to scan the room. He sees nothing else invisible, aetheral, or otherwise hidden.

Dandy relays the question and the dead woman says, It looks like us but for its eyes. It was in this room, hidden in plain sight. Three of us fell before its gaze before we knew it. I tried to kill it but my spells to slow or hold it were ineffective. Desmond couldn't kill it with poison. Eventually it killed us all.

Furuk walks into the opening of the small cave. Surprise roll [1d6] = 1 Furuk save vs Death [1d20] = 2 A gurgle escapes his throat and he falls over, dead.

OC: One down. This bodak is tough. Let's hope they guy with the Rod isn't killed or that's the end of this module...

Dieter - Mage

Seeing what happened to Furuk, Dieter will turn away from the small opening (to avoid gaze attacks) and use his staff to conjure an earth elemental. When it appears he will whisper to it: There is something in this room that is evil, it can turn folks to statues with it's gaze. Find it and show us it's location. There is an invisible gnome in the room, that is not what we seek.

OCC: Spooky...

Grimes - Fighter

Seeing Furuk fall, Grimes can barely contain his rage, but he waits till he can see this thing, and he'll try to get behind it and stab it with wave.

Bodak!

Dandy reads his scroll. The Bodak is properly affected and the scroll has its effect.

Dieter calls up an earth elemental. The creature rises and listens to the mage, and then scans the room. It sees nothing fitting the description and then moves to the small opening the half-orc entered. Saving throw [1d20] = 9 It rumbles into the room and attacks what is in there.

OOC: I will roll up the fight between the bodak and the earth elemental. In the meantime, as fighting goes on, what does the party do?
