Sanity system?

I want to use GORE to run Call of Cthulhu in the near future, but alas, there is no sanity system to be found. Does anyone have a system for this kind of thing?

You can find multiple references to Call of Cthulhu's sanity system via Google, but before you venture too deep, I recommend reading this perspective on Sanity as a mechanic in the game.

Agreed, Sanity rolls are game killers.

It is a mechanic of Russian roulette with 5 bullets in a 6 chamber revolver :o

If you want to instill the fear of the event then I would recommend a chart of horror effects, such as:

hair turns completely hair
hair falls out
temporarily deaf or blind or dumb or other or all
partial paralysis
mini stroke
normal speech is replaced with an arcane language
age 10-50yrs
stunned
KOed
see other characters as evil frogmen or zombies or "insert your favorite"
etc.

And continue rolling on the chart as you see fit...

If players are in the presence of an Elder God or the like then each round they save vs magic for example and if fail then they get a chart result...10-25% should be thrown up or poop on one's self...

I'm a month late to the discussion, but a GORE sanity system can be downloaded for free here:

So, all of the existing links on here and on a pretty thorough google search turned up nothin but broken links. Anyone have a current link?

Here is the URL for the GORE Downloads page on BRPCentral:
http://basicroleplaying.org/files/category/39-gore/
It's there under 'Stress and Trauma: Mental Health Rules for GORE'

I disagree that sanity rules are objectively 'game killers'... like most things it's a matter of taste and what the other people you game with want out of the game. There's no 'badwrongfun' about using sanity rules if everyone agrees to them.
