Monster HD and Hit Bonus

Hi all,
For those of you who avoid the combat matrices, do you give monsters a "to hit" bonus reflective of their HD?

Same net effect. And a +1 to hit if they have a bonus for their hit dice (ie: 5+2). In fact, the bonus hit points on such creatures rarely has any real effect on their hit points, I see that bonus as the indicator that said critter is a mean fighter, but not as tough as other creatures of equivalent skill.
But I use the tables, since you would have to remember that at higher hit dice, the bonus isn't at every level.
