DM's fault, I was unclear in the positions of all of the players on the ground floor.

Grimes can't quite charge the Lizardman Warrior (LW) because the web is between them. Grimes can only move at half speed through the web.

Image
G is Grimes
LW is the free lizardfolk warrior going for his spear
the L in six places are the webbed lizardfolk
the yellow area (xxxxxxx) is roughly the area of the web.
The giant 1 is just a room designation :)

Does Grimes chose a different action?

Thanks for the clarification.
Can I hack at the ones closest to me in the web? If so, I'll hack at them one at a time to kill them, and when the free lizard gets to me, I'll deal with him. Thanks!

Tower Assault III

Ground floor Initiative lizard guys d6, 5; Grimes d6, 2 Lizard guys have initiative.

The Lizardfolk warrior (LW) chucks his spear at Grimes (d20, 9, MISS) and the spear thuds in the door behind the halfling.

The other lizards struggle while cursing loudly at Grimes.

Grimes hacks at the nearest of the lizardfolk with his sword (d20, 14, hit, dmg d6+1, 5+1=6) seriously wounding the lizardfolk.

-----------

Upper level -- party has surprise, lizard guys can't act.

Dieter casts continual light on a lizardman to the rear, blinding it. It gropes for its eyes.

Einar (autopilot) shoots an arrow (d20, 10, MISS) but is wide of his mark.

Dandy (autopilot) throws his hammer (d20, 3, MISS) but it also misses.

Furuk engages the closest lizardman (d20, 18, HIT, dmg d8+3, 8+3=11) killing it with a single stroke of his blade.

So much for the element of surprise. There are five lizardfolk remaining in the barracks. The are unarmed but have their nasty claws ready for an attack and are unhappy to be awoken from their naps.

Downstairs, Grimes faces seven more, six of whom are webbed (one of whom is injured) and the seventh is on the other side of the web from Grimes and is smart enough not to entrap himself in it. He begins inching his way along the wall to the north... The six struggle against their webbed state. When will they break free?

Grimes - Fighter

Grimes will keep swinging at the trapped lizards, and switch to the advancing one as he gets within range. He's pretty motivated to kill these guys, cause' they will make short work of him when they get free. (Short work? Get it? Halfling jokes?)

ahhhhh....

Furuk steps up and to the left a little to engage both lizardmen, in an attempt to keep them away from Dieter. He takes another swing with his sword at the closest one.

"It's time for you to die lizards!"

1000? C'mon, man... 500 maybe, but 1000? That's a tough crowd.

Tower Assault IV

Ground floor initiative baddies d6, 1; Grimes d6, 3 Grimes has initiative

Grimes swings (d20, 3, MISS) but cannot connect even with the webbed enemies.

The free Lizardman slips north and opens a secret door! He slips inside.

The rest of the lizardfolk continue to struggle against the web.

--------------------

Upper level initiative baddies d6, 6, party d6, 1 baddies have initiative

Lizardman warrior 2 (LW2) -- LW1 is dead -- attacks Furuk (d20, 6, MISS) but misses.

LW3 attacks Furuk too (d20, 3, MISS) but his claw cannot connect.

LW4 attacks Dandy (d20, 15, MISS) but cannot hit the dwarf.

LW5 closes the distance.

LW6 blindly moves towards the sounds of battle, closing the distance.

The party responds!

Dieter casts another continual light and LW2 is blind.

Einar (autopilot) fires another arrow at LW5 (d20, 16, HIT, dmg d6+1, 6+1=7) and the lizardman is injured!

Furuk swings his mighty sword (d20, 13, HIT, dmg d8+3, 8+3=11) and kills another lizardfolk -- LW3 drops.

Dandy swings his hammer (d20, 17, HIT, dmg d8+4, 4+4=8) and hurts his foe.

The party upstairs is doing well against their foes, but still have a few to go. Grimes, on the other hand, might be in trouble. What is behind the secret door the lizardfolk warrior went in? And how much longer until the lizard people escape the web?
