Interlude

The party leaves the Temple of Elemental Evil again, this time with a new member (who had to go into a vomit inducing gas cloud to prove his worth), and with both prisoners and rescues. It's easy to lose track of time and when you emerge it is dawn, the beginning of a new day. The ground is wet with dew and birdsong fills the air. You're hopeful that this autumn fog will burn off soon: it's warm for the season.



The people you rescued are from a small homestead west of Nulb near the Kron Hills, so if you wish to escort them you will need to go through Nulb and avoid the Gnarley Forest.

The dwarf blinks against the morning light, his thick bristling brows knitting into a deep squint. He doesn't care for the open skies above him. His world is down below the ground, a dim world of caverns, tunnels, chambers and corridors, of solid stone and rock, of roaring forges and the ringing of hammers. Yet he was happy to be free of the temple's confines. Bror removes his battered helmet and attaches it to his pack.

"I figure we'll get a r'ward fer the safe return o' the womenfolk, eh?" Bror quips with a toothy smile, sounding the others out while stroking his beard. In the heart of every dwarf was at least a little greed for gold. "How far 'way is Nulb? I've got me a terrible thirst for some ale."

Thurwin - Wizard

Thurwin will try to speak to the party private from the women and prisoners. "I think we should get the ladies headed in the direction of Nulb, and then continue on to Hommlet. Nulb isn't a nice place, and these prisoners may be from there. Least of all, I think that place is leaning toward that foul temple and wouldn't be happy to see us with prisoners." Thurwin pats Bror on the shoulder and says "The Inn in Hommlet has some fine ale, I'm sure we can find you something nice there, and our supporters at the church and tower would likely be happy to learn more of what we've found."

OOC: I think we should avoid Nulb. Get the ladies close or in the right direction and then wish them well. Then make haste to Hommlet with these clowns.

A day or two of rest and rejuvenation sounds fine. Avoiding Nulb will keep our energies positive.

"I'm in agreement, The Inn in Hommlet sounds nice right now," Effric says.

"Agreed," says Morgan. "No sense going to Nulb if it can be helped. The inn in Hommlet sounds pretty tempting right about now. We can turn over the prisoners there as well."

Talk about bad property values. the ToEE is basically the low rent suburbs of Nulb.

Calthas takes a deep breath, happy to go back to a more natural environment. He agrees with the general feeling about Nulb, but feels a bit worried to leave the women go alone to such a treacherous place. "We still don't know where these people came from, and what they were doing in the temple. I suggest we interrogate them first!" says the elven warrior while turning a dark eye on the bounded prisoners.

Thurwin - Wizard

Thurwin whispers to Calthas and the others out of earshot of the prisoners and ladies. "These women are from the Nulb area, I think they'll make it home fine, it's not that far. I'd normally agree on escorting them, but in this case I think it's best if we move along. And as for interrogating these ruffians, I'm sure Burne, Rufus and the council will be up to the task. But perhaps we can tell them that in exchange for some info, we'll put in a word for them or something."

OOC: We've got a ways to go, so I wouldn't want to anger these guys too much, remember the last gang that escaped? I'd rather keep this quick and convenient. These guys are probably a bit sore about being hacked by angry orcs, enveloped in a stinky cloud and now captured.
